John Henry West Coast Super D

They came, they shredded, they blew a few lungs, and they basked in the sun.  Did the 1st annual John Henry West Super D answer the question of who wins out of DH'er versus XC'er?  Round one goes to DH by a whisker, proving that the fresh Belcarra course design was a true test of rider ability regardless of bike type.  Just like the saying goes at John Henry Bikes, "It's all about the ride".  For full results and photographs Click here.  

 
Vanier Park 'Cross 2009

A brand new course on the other side of Vanier Park was the setting for our a biggest and quite possibly our best Vanier Park 'Cross Classic ever.  Co-organizers West Coast Racing and Trek Red Truck Racing played host to the BC Cup Cyclocross Series event # 2 to cap off a huge weekend for cyclocross in Vancouver and B.C. as second half of a weekend double header with New Brighton the previous day.  170 racers of all ages enjoyed an idyllic in the sun, on a fast Euro style layout.

Cardiac Classic - Report & Results

B.C.’s provincial XC championships were awarded on Sunday, June 28th at West Coast Racing’s Cardiac Classic presented by North Shore Bike Shop and Hansen Industries, but the day belonged to New Zealand’s Team N-Duro/CabinRacing.com .  The Kiwi tandem of Mark Leishman in the Pro/Elite Men’s event, and Nic Leary in the Pro/Elite Womens’, matched each other with wins in the marquee events overcoming a challenging course and local competitors.  Thomas Skinner riding for Oak Bay Bikes/Specialized and Joele Guynup representing the Island Racing Club vanquished their remaining contenders, earning the provincial champions’ jerseys.  Lauren Rosser from the powerhouse junior development program of Team Squamish, and Sebastien Sleep of Rocky Mountain-Different Bikes took home the junior titles with virtuoso performances, easily distancing their respective fields.  Over 150 racers participated in the championship races, enjoying excellent racing temperatures and sunshine which eventually won the day over foreboding early clouds and a brief sprinkle of rain before the first start.  Free kids’ non-competitive events held on a pair of progressive, scaled down courses saw over 20 racers of the future put their skills and lungs on display.
